Okay, time to confess.
Which movies have you seen that you a. know you should hate because of their lack of lesbian cred, over-romantised plots, sloppy endings, they lacked all meaning, were nothing more than explosions and bad dialogue or whatever else you feel is embarrasing in a film, but actually quite liked b. know you should have liked because it's a lesbian classic (or another classic of some kind), had it recommended by someone who should have known better. Save us all from having to watch films that don't live up to their rep, and help us by recommending films that we might ignore otherwise. Let me just start with I love chick-flicks, sloppy hetero romances/ stories about groups of friends with very little meaningful plot - so that's my confession for a. I would recommend however: Crush - a brit film, with a surprisingly hardnosed ending Calendar Girls - another brit film based on a true story, very empowering for those who haven't seen it. Not really a chick-flick, but a very good 'human' movie. Peter's Friends - yet another brit movie, gay but not lesbian interest. As for confession b: I hated All Over Me, a very bad 'lesbian' movie about a skater girl with a crush on her friend - 2hours of my life I'd like back. I hated Go Fish - and I watched it twice in case I'd missed the point the first time - that's 4 hours of my life gone. I hated the lesbian plot line in Buffy - it was too false. and I don't like any of the Matrix Movies - they're boring, the plot was obvious and the acting mediocre at best. I don't get the Xena thing - bad acting and naff plot is bad acting and naff plot, subtext or no subtext. Oh yeah, and i've never seen the Blues Brothers or Casablanca So... who's next to committee Film Heresy.

My confession: I haven't seen many lesbian films. And I tend to forget the bad ones, unless they were really bad and big dissapointments.
I once saw a movie called "French twist" (Gazon maudit). It a French film. I am not usually into French movies, but this one was really good and funny. If you haven't seen Bound. You ought to already. Gina Gershon is damn hot in it and it's good movie too. I can't remember any bad L fkicks. But Talented Mr. Ripley was just pain to watch. I went to see it in a movie theatre and it was misery from the begining to the end. Too bad lousy movie is not valid argument for geting one's money back. I don't like Xena eihter. It's just boring.

oh well done the both of u
i luuuvit! i wouldve hated welcoming meriah by leaving that aweful ****deleted by clion****** edit on her nice post. btw, meriah, i did enjoy gazon maudit when it came out in mid nineties. the *butch* woman is a much loved straight french comdian & the sexy love interest is that delightful spanish [presumably st8] actress who's starred in many almodovar films, victoria abril. i think the combo of these 2 women worked well + the ending is not all that predictable. well picked. === daisy, great thread idea! i'd like 2 c it take-off high & strong. ![]()
