lol, I can understand that guy getting on the defense automatically. Im sure hes had *alot* of hurtful judgemental comments said to him. Ive found that piercings and stretched lobes are greeted with more judgement than tattoos since most people have a tattoo theyre getting a bit more accepted in society. My professor who is also on the administrative board for the university I go to(this is a private religious school as well mind you) has half sleeves and several other random pieces.

Downside? None IMO, if its for you and its something you want there isnt a downside. Now getting one does hurt and for about 2weeks after that you have to baby it a little but other than that there isnt a negative aspect IMO.

I know what you mean, Meriah. Often it seems that people with tattoos, mostly the ones who have a lot, don't seem to welcome the attention when they see us looking at their artwork even without saying anything. That's something I really don't get as they put it out there on exposed skin for all to see.

Often times peoples tattoos have a significance to them, and with that Im sure alot of people have disrespected the person's piece for them to get defensive right off the bat. Now probably my most visible item is my stretched lobes theyre to the point now trying to hide them would be stupid. I had a woman I have class with now on the first day of class I didnt know her she was staring profusely at my ear...bit uncomfortable I will tell you. Then she started to make discusted faces, and was like "what are you gonna do with that when your old". I was a bit dumbfounded at that point, I just pretended like I didnt know what she was talk about and said "what?". She grabed her earlobe again with the discusted face and said that and then proceded to try to touch me.

Now I do not in any way mind honest curiosity, I accept the fact that the things I have done for my own personal style and liking are going to bring on some questions. But if these questions are done in a disrespectful mannor or somebody is absolutly just starring at me to the point Im uncomfortable then its to far and they should expect some backlash. Also never assume that others who have alot of work done be it tattoos or whatever that they get them to have others look at it or ask them about it, more often than not as I said these hold significance to the person or at the least are a personal testiment to themselves.

I like to think of any body modification in relevence to walking around with Snake, I wouldnt want people gauking at us all threw a store. As Im sure none of you would want anyone watching you or asking rude invasive questions to you and your GFs about your togetherness because its not conventional.

To reply about the meaning of my nine inch nails tat, it's from the song "we're in this together". It really spoke to me about androg and I, about our relationship at the time, and how we're always heckled about something, one way or another. But this is who we are, and it's fate we found each other.
And secondly, i don't particurally like questions, some of my tattoos have meanings to me, and some i just like the art style. My things are personal, but i do at the same time understand people can see them, and with that comes curiosity. I'm just a private person, and don't like to be questioned about my personal motives for things. But when it comes down to it, if people respect me, i'll respect them too.
